Elkhorn natives help swim club takes 5th at state championships

The top USA Swimming teams in Wisconsin met again this past weekend in Brown Deer, this time for the 13 & Over State Championships.

The Lake Geneva Swim Club (LGSC) was represented by six swimmers:  Molly Dover (Lake Geneva), Coriann Dorgay (Burlington), Carly and Katelyn O’Brien (Williams Bay), Kady Ruemmele and Terrin Seaver (Elkhorn).
The Senior Medley Relay team of Ruemmele (32.81 Backstroke), Katelyn O’Brien (37.45 Breaststroke), Carly O’Brien (29.76 Butterfly) and Seaver (27.28 Freestyle) started the scoring on Thursday morning when they took 12th place with a time of 2:07.30.
Later in the day on Thursday in the 100 Free  Seaver  (59.46) took 5th, Carly O’Brien (1:00.76) took 11th, Ruemmele (1:02.27) took 19th and Molly Dover (1:05.65) moved up to 35th.

Katelyn O’Brien (3:03.18) dropped six seconds in her 200 Breast and finished 21st.

On Friday LGSC had six swims but made the most of it scoring points in four of the six.  Carly O’Brien started the scoring this time when she took 11th place in the 400M IM (5:24.85), a demanding race that requires swimming 100M of each stroke.  Seaver (1:07.04) and Ruemmele (1:07.30) each qualified for finals in the 100 back and finished in 5th and 6th place respectively.  Katelyn O’Brien (1:14.20) finished in 27th place.  Seaver and Ruemmele each competed in the 200 Free later in the night with Seaver (2:11.67) taking 9th and Ruemmele (2:15.93) taking 19th Saturday LGSC had five swimmers compete in the finals at night.
In the 200 Back, Ruemmele (2:24.54) took 5th place, Seaver (23:25.33) took 7th place and Corianne Dorgay (2:39.58) took 30th.

Katelyn O’Brien (1:22.43) moved up from a 16 seed and finished in 11th place in the 100 Breast

Carly O’Brien (1:04.97) took 5th place, Seaver (1:05.31) took 6th and Dover (1:10.81), competing in her first night finals, took 15th in the 100M Butterfly.  Ruemmele (1:08.73) finished just outside the points taking 18th in the seniors group. Carly O’Brien took 5th place, Terrin Seaver took 6th place, Molly Dover took 15th place and Kady Ruemmele finished in 18th place in the 100 FlyCarly O’Brien took 5th place, Terrin Seaver took 6th place, Molly Dover took 15th place and Kady Ruemmele finished in 18th place in the 100 Fly

Dorgay (20:18.92) started Sunday’s scoring taking 12th place in the mile swim, a grueling 30 lengths of a 50M pool.

In the 200 IM Carly O’Brien (2:28.86) took 12th place, Kady Ruemmele (2:33.98) took 22nd place, Katelyn O’Brien (2:43.45) moved up to 35th place and Dover (2:44.68) dropped 5.7 seconds to move up to 40th place.
LGSC had six girls compete at the 13 & Over State Championships this past weekend and finished in 5th place overall in the small team division.

In other LGSC news:  12 year old Ashley Stahmer (Woodstock, IL) swam with Team Wisconsin at the Central Zones Championships in Topeka, KS.  Stahmer competed in the 100M Free (7th place, 1:03.46), 200M Free Relay (2nd Place), 400M Medley Relay (3rd place), 50M Free (29.06, 7th place), 400M Free (5:00.90, 13th place), 400M Free Relay (2nd place) and the 200 Free (2:21.95, 8th place). Mark Pasikhov took 11th place in the 100M Buterfly.
