Paddle, walk against domestic violence and sexual abuse planned

A special “Poker Run” fundraising event will be held Sunday, Aug. 25 from 7 until 11 a.m. to benefit the local non-profit organization, The Association for the Prevention of Family Violence.

Participants have the choice of paddling or walking on the Lake Geneva shore path, stopping at various piers or checkpoints to collect playing cards to form a winning poker hand. The event begins at Wesley Woods Conference Center (250 Stam St. in Williams Bay), and follows the Geneva Lake north shoreline, taking roughly one to two hours to complete.

A continental breakfast will be served from 9 until 11 a.m. in the Wesley Woods dining hall. Poker prizes for the top hands will be awarded at 11:15 a.m.

Registration information is available online through www.active.com, or at www.apfvwalworth.com. Jean Henderson also can be reached for information at (262) 723-5414.
