Lutherdale quilt auction Aug. 10

 

Assembled by a quilting group from Sugar Creek Lutheran Church, the pictured quilt will be one of many available at the 27th annual Lutherdale quilt auction on Aug. 10.

 

 

The public is invited to the 27th annual Lutherdale Fest Quilt Auction on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The quilt auction, conducted by professional auctioneers, commences at 10 a.m.

More than 275 donated quilts of all sizes, from baby to king size, wall hangings and table runners were handmade by hundreds of quilters from Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Washington, and Florida.  Some are completely hand quilted.  Several Quilt Tops will be auctioned, just waiting for a quilter to finish.

Quilt preview will be Friday, Aug. 9 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with silent bids accepted on both Quilts and Silent Auction Baskets.

A Friday night fish fry will be available for $12/adults and $7/youth.  Online silent bidding ends Friday, Aug. 9 at midnight and in person on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 9 a.m at Lutherdale.

Mike Duesterbeck is serving lunch in the air conditioned dining hall. Menu will include fresh roasted pork sandwiches, german potato salad, fresh fruit compote, cookie and a beverage for $7.50.

Coffee and snacks are available a la cart from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Brats, hot dogs, popcorn, candy, snacks, and beverages will be available at concession stands near the auction area.

Lutherdale Fest is fun for the whole family. There is a men’s lounge for husbands to enjoy a game on the big screen, read the paper, play cards, sample wild game, or relax. Children can participate in a day at camp program from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.  The schedule will include swimming, crafts, farm visit, climbing tower, and campfire with smores.  The cost is $25 per child and lunch and snacks are included.

Silent auction includes sports items donated by professional Wisconsin and Illinois teams, gift certificates from local area businesses, and theme baskets. There will be a fall mum sale with a variety of sizes and colors and flowering kale.

Lutherdale honey and fresh produce will be available for sale. Visit the sale tent with craft items and quilting odds and ends, which includes fabric, patterns, and other notions.

The bakery tent will be selling cookies, pies, breads, and other treats.

Pontoon rides depart every 30 minutes from the docks on the beautiful Lauderdale Lakes. Klement’s Racing Sausages will participate in all fest activities, taking pictures, and signing autographs.

Funds raised from this event are being supplemented by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Lutherdale Bible Camp is located at N7891 U.S. Hwy 12, just 7 miles north of Elkhorn on the shore of Lauderdale Lakes. Free admission. Free parking.
