Summer playhouse presents ‘The Little Mermaid’

This July the Whitewater Summer School Playhouse will bring the story of “The Little Mermaid” to life with the help of the staff, volunteers, and its talented students.

Inspired by the 2008 Walt Disney Tony Award-nominated production on Broadway, this family friendly show written by Doug Wright, is sure to bring a night of entertainment you won’t forget.

Music and lyrics are by Alan Menkin, Howard Ashman, and Glenn Slater and feature well known songs such as, “Part of Your World,” “She’s in Love,” and Oscar-winning “Under the Sea,” The Little Mermaid captures the hearts of the audiences young and old.

In a magical underwater kingdom, a beautiful mermaid by the name of Ariel must defy her father King Triton in order to life a happy life on land. On her adventures she falls under a spell by the evil sea witch Ursula and loses her voice. Will Ariel convince Prince Eric that she is the love of his life and break the spell?

With the help of character favorites Sebastian and Flounder, Ariel must learn that her inner beauty and friendship is all that matters. Filled with upbeat songs and non-stop hilarity, The Little Mermaid is a must see.

The production will take place at the Whitewater High School auditorium, 534 S. Elizabeth St., on July 11-12 at 7 p.m., and a 2 p.m. matinee on July 13. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students/seniors, and free to children 5 and younger.
