The City of Delavan Water Utility is warning its customers of solicitation from a company that might not be legitimate.

Some City of Delavan water customers have received a letter from a company offering insurance for water lines. The company – HomeServe USA Repair Management Corp. – offers $6,000 in annual coverage for water-line repair for $4.99 a month.

However, the company is not licensed in Wisconsin and 185 complaints about it have been handled by the Better Business Bureau, said City Utilities Manager Jim Piester.

The City of Beloit also issued a warning to its utility customers.

“It just seems like it’s not a real legitimate company based on what we’ve seen on the internet and what Beloit has written,” Piester said.
