The wait is finally over.

A mild winter and an aggressive construction schedule enabled organizers to ensure the new Mukwonago YMCA building, located at 250 Wolf Run in Mukwonago across the street from the Mukwonago Walmart, finished on schedule.

The grand opening is set for Tuesday, Sept. 4. Programs are set to begin on Sept. 24.

An unveiling fundraiser will take place from 6-9 p.m. Aug. 25 at the YMCA and will feature live music, hors d’oeurves, refreshments and progressive food stations. Business casual attire is advised.

The cost per person is $50 and $95 per couple. Corporate sponsorship opportunities are available. Tickets can be purchased through the Waukesha YMCA, which can be reached at (262) 542-2557.

Charter memberships to the Mukwonago YMCA are available through Aug. 27, according to the organization’s web site. The memberships are either $500 or $250, and come with perks and accolades not part of a monthly membership package.

Standard memberships are available starting Sept. 4. Prices range from $81 per month for a household to $19 per month for a child between six months and 12 years of age.

For more information on charter memberships or standard memberships visit http://www.ymcacwc.org/, the web site of YMCA of Central Waukesha County.

More than 800 donors raised nearly $10 million to construct the 58,000 square foot facility. The final cost is estimated to be in the range of $13 million.

The Mukwonago YMCA Board of Directors broke ground on the facility in September 2011 after a five-year-long fundraising campaign.

The facility will serve the communities of Big Bend, Eagle, East Troy, Mukwonago, Muskego, North Prairie, Vernon, Waterford, Wales and those in southwest Waukesha.

The facility features a zero depth entry pool with a water slide and therapeutic current, along with an indoor lap pool. Zero depth pools are designed to be like a beach; the water as the swimmer enters the pool becomes deeper with each step.

The facility also features five locker rooms and 8,000 square feet of personal fitness space. A large gymnasium is also available, along with an indoor track, a child observation area, a teen/senior area and a lounge.

A TRX suspension fitness system is also available.
