NDS Foundation festival back at A+ Power Sports this Saturday

Nicholas Sergi loved riding motorcycles, snowmobiles, boats and 4-wheelers.

“He really had a passion for anything with a motor,” explained Lauren Sergi, who now helps run the Nicholas D. Sergi Foundation after Nick’s passing in 2018.

The foundation, with Nick’s love of motorsports, will hold its annual NDS Foundation Family, Farm and Faith Festival Saturday, Oct. 1, starting at 2:30 p.m. at A+ Power Sports, 622 E. Court St., Elkhorn.

“It looks like it’s going to be 70 and sunny,” Lauren said. “It should be a great day to come out.”

Tickets for the event are $25 for adults, $10 for kids 12 years old and younger and free for children younger than 2.

The tickets cover food and beverages as well as the activities on the grounds. For children, there will be a petting zoo and reptile show, while both young and adult alike can try out giant Jenga and Connect 4.

A program will talk about the numerous projects the foundation has helped with in the community, and there will be NDS Foundation T-shirts and hats for sale.

But one of the major parts of the event will be the silent auction. With more than $60,000 in sponsors, Lauren explained there are numerous items up for bidding.

“We’ve got a ton of great packages,” she said. “There’s a lot to be excited about.”

The silent auctions include sports tickets for the Chicago Bears, as well as floor seats to a Chicago Bulls game.

All bidding will be done online at the event website, e.givesmart.com/events/rkZ. People do not need to attend the event to bid, but can sign up to receive text messages to find out how the bidding is proceeding. Bidding will open Friday and run through 5 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets can also be purchased online at that site. Lauren said the goal is to fundraiser $135,000. Already, the NDS Foundation has broken $100,000, and expecting hundreds of people at the event.
