Nova Mae Kyburz

Nova Mae Kyburz, 84 of East Troy, passed away Sept. 7, 2022, with her great-granddaughter, Maylee, by her side. She was born in Winfield Township, Sauk County, to Max and Ida Sainsbury.

She grew up on the family farm in Moundville, Marquette County, and graduated from Portage High School in 1955.

Nova married the love of her life, Kenneth Roger Kyburz, Sept. 8, 1956, and they lived in the Milwaukee, Muskego and East Troy areas.

She was very proud of working on the family farm, milking cows and picking chicory. She worked as a lunch lady at the Muskego Norway School. Nova also worked at GTE and Tutor Oaks Senior Living.

Ken and Nova were members of Hales Corners Wesleyan Church and St. James United Methodist Church in East Troy.

Nova liked taking pictures and making scrapbooks. She loved gardening, reading, country music, and going to the East Troy Bluegrass Festival. She also enjoyed the Fourth of July parade with family and friends, the Red Hat Ladies, going to movies with friends and polka dancing with her brother, Jim, or anyone that would dance with her.

She is survived by her children, Roger (MaryBeth), and Roxanne; grandchildren, Kenneth (Elizabeth), Jennifer (Adam) and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Maylee, Ethan, Cohen, Alejandra, Brooklyn and RJ; brother-in-law, Darwin Barron; many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband (March 2022); brothers, James (Emma) Sainsbury, Herbert (Carol) Sainsbury, Max Sainsbury; sisters, Joyce (Lester) Paske, and Reva Barron.

Nova loved babies, especially her grandkids. She was a fantastic mom and loving wife. She will be sadly missed.

The family sends special thanks to Our House Senior Living in Whitewater and Lynn from Agrace Hospice Care.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at St. James United Methodist Church, 2945 Main St., East Troy. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment in Oakridge Cemetery will follow the service.
