City waiting on compensation study

The City of Elkhorn Common Council voted 5-0 in favor of postponing a compensation study for city employees in 2023 until more information is received.

The compensation had been recommended for consideration by the Human Resources during its Aug. 22 meeting.

At that meeting, Swann noted the last compensation study was completed in 2016. Swann said he reached out to Public Administration Associates that told him a compensation study could be up to $20,000 on the high end.

At the council meeting, City Administrator Adam Swann noted he had received a copy of a wage study completed by the City of Lake Geneva that could potentially be used as a tool.

Swann said that while they now have some comparative data, the bigger question will be trying to classify where Elkhorn employees should be in terms of pay grades.

In other business

In other business, the council also voted in favor of approving a certified two-parcel Certified Survey Map for KUD’s Ltd., Inc., for the construction of a proposed Taco Bell with drive-thru at 830 N. Wisconsin St.

The Certified Survey Map would allow for KUD’s Ltd. To divide off approximately 11.59 acres of the former Two Season Bowl site to create a 32.271 square-foot parcel for the Taco Bell site.
