It’s a new year, it’s a new name – and it’s a new event, of a sort, in downtown Elkhorn

The Elkhorn Area Chamber of Commerce’s former Corn and Brat Fest shifts gears this year, becoming the Truck and Shuck Summer Food Truck Festival this Saturday, July 30.

The corn will be locally sourced by Papcke Farms of Elkhorn, and instead of providing the brat meal, the chamber is inviting in several different food trucks.

The trucks, corn and a large variety of entertainment will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Among the food vendors will be Friends on the Fly, Mr. P’s Grilled Cheese, Sarah’s Sweet Treats – a bakery truck – and Lopez’s Anchor Inn (out of Delavan) will be among the food trucks in attendance.

In addition to the food, the music group Exit Plan will perform from noon to 3 p.m., and the group Under Siege from 5 to 7 p.m.

The evening will be rounded out with a showing of “The Bad Guys,” a recent animated film, at dusk in the park.

There will also be a family activity area, hosted by St. John’s Church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a 65-foot obstacle course, a “Connect-A-Shot” game and other activities, as well as a “Crazy Castle” bounce house.
