PATRICIA VANACKER

      Patricia Alice (Recob) VanAcker (PVA) of St. Germain, died July 9, 2022, at Marshfield Medical Center in Minocqua.

She was 78 years young. Mrs. VanAcker was born Sept. 2, 1943, in Elkhorn. She was the eldest daughter of Ronald and Opal (Speiss) Recob. She attended Big Foot High School in Walworth. She went on to Swedish-American Nursing College in Rockford, Illinois, to become a registered nurse.

She married Bernard (Bernie) Basile VanAcker on Aug. 15, 1964, at the United Church of Christ in Walworth. She also later taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.

Mrs. VanAcker was an Administrator at Eagle River Memorial Hospital, Eagle River. She was also Surgical (O.R.) Supervisor at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander. She was a R.N. at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff. In her later years, she was a former clothing employee of Wal-Mart, Minocqua. She was doing transcription weeks before she passed away for Achilles Foot and Ankle Clinic in Woodruff.

She and Bernie were the former owners of Bernie and Pat’s Delavanna Club and B&V Liquors, a machine shop and golf cart shop in Delavan. They had also owned another tavern/bowling alley in Brodhead. They moved to St. Germain in Vilas County in 1983.

She attended church at Shepherd of the Lakes Church in Sayner, where she sang in the choir and also directed them. She then became a member at the St. Germain Evangelical Free Church in St. Germain. She enjoyed singing with the worship team on occasion. She loved her Bible study group on Thursday mornings. She belonged to many/numerous nursing groups as well as Critical Access Hospital for Eagle River. She had retirees breakfasts in Rhinelander and retirees luncheons in Eagle River.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ron and Opal, her husband Bernie, a brother-in-law Hank Komes, son-in-law Ronnie Schilling Jr. and her beloved dog Lil’ Bear.

She is survived by her daughter, Lauri Schilling of Sayner; two sons, Steven (Susan) VanAcker of Minocqua, and Scott (Delaina) VanAcker of Three Mile Bay, New York and 8 grandkids, six great grandkids, three brothers, three sister-in-laws and one sister and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and her dog Scooby Doo, her cats Cootie and Bucky Badger and her bird Skittles.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 30 at the St. Germain Evangelical Free Church in St. Germain. Visitation to be held at 12:30 to 2 p.m. with services starting at 2 p.m. with refreshments to follow. The Rev. Tom Kammel officiating. Burial will be set for a later date at the St. Germain Cemetery for family members only.
