Elizabeth “Betty” J. Chart, 93, of East Troy, passed away peacefully Sept. 7, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born on Aug. 30, 1928, in Lyons, to Henry and Elizabeth (Dreesman) Hofner.
Shortly after marrying Jack Chart, of East Troy, she relocated to East Troy, where they raised their family.
Betty started playing piano at a very young age and began her life-long career of teaching piano and organ at the age of 14. She also began playing organ for the church and directing various choirs at the age of 16.
She attended the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music where she received a certificate in music education. Music was a very important part of her life.
She is survived by her son, Dan (Shirlene); daughter, Mary; grandchildren, Diana, Amy and Zac; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; her husband; and an infant son, Robert.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Peter’s Catholic Church, East Troy, are greatly appreciated. A funeral Mass was held.
