ARTHUR EDWARD JOHNSON

ARTHUR EDWARD JOHNSON

Arthur Edward Johnson, 90, died at Mercy Hospital in Janesville Feb. 18. He was born on May 9, 1922 in Beloit, to the late Henry and Laura Johnson. He married Dolores Kreinz June 24, 1944. He was a generous and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who spent his most cherished time surrounded by those he loved and cared for throughout the years.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, his professional career in management took him across the country and around the world. He was respected as a mentor, leader and role model. Applying his own personal touch to each position led to dedicated and loyal employees, many of whom remembered that he knew them by name. He retired in 1996 as President of Basler Electric in Highland, Ill.

As one would hear on his phone message, Art and Dolores retired to “beautiful Lake Delavan” in Wisconsin. He was an avid golfer by day and bridge player by night where, occasionally, the scores of the former were high and those of the latter low. There was no confusion, however, when it came to his enjoyment of the games and the fun he provided to his teammates.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dolores, his daughter, Karen (Mike) Finley; his son, Robert (Janet); six grandsons and seven great grandchildren.

A private service and burial was held Feb. 23.
