Fire displaces families

A fire at 407 South Main St. in Delavan the evening of June 6 caused substantial damage to a two-story duplex. Crews from the City and Town of Delavan fire departments responded with approximately 40 firefighters just before 6:30 p.m. to the structure fire. According to Fire Chief Tim O’Neill, firefighters were met with heavy smoke and heat when they entered the second floor (above.) Two families were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, O’Neill said.
