Sip wines from around the world

Delavan Wine Walk to feature drink, food samples

The Delavan–Darien Rotary Club along with Delavan Connect Communities and Visit Delavan will host the annual Wine Walk.

Guests can sip, stroll, and shop throughout historic downtown and participate in tastings of fine wines from various wine regions throughout the world on the walk, which runs 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., on Saturday, May 22.

Enjoy a red and a white wine tasting along with food samplings at various downtown businesses.

“This is a great opportunity for a night out with friends or that special someone and to experience downtown Delavan,” organizers said.

Check-in will begin at 3 p.m. that day at the open storefront, 237 E. Walworth Ave. (next to La Monarca.) Each participant will receive a tasting passport, a map, a complimentary bottle of water and a souvenir Wine Walk wine glass tucked in a Wine Walk branded tote.

Participating downtown businesses and tasting locations include Beall Jewelers, Brick Street Yarn, Delavan-Delavan Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, Delavan Home Style Bakery, Jonathan’s on Brick Street, Licoreria La Costera, LSJ Music Company, Oficina de Multiservicios, Ol’ Wisco Bar and Grill, Rural Mutual Insurance Company, The Treasury, Unique Home Décor and Utiger Jewelry Inc.

A tasting of one white and one red wine will be offered at each location.

“As you enjoy your wine, make sure you register for your chance to win that location’s prize or gift certificate,” organizers said.

For those who find a wine or two that are a “must enjoy again” variety, participants will have the opportunity to purchase the wines served at the end of the event at Licoreria La Costera.

Wine Walk registrants must be 21 years or older to participate and must bring a photo ID to check-in. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 that day but only if there are tickets remaining. Designated driver tickets will be sold at $15 in advance or the day of.

“We encourage participants to drink responsibly and have a designated driver or arranged transportation for this event,” organizers said.

Only 250 tickets for the tasting will be sold so early registration is encouraged and can be done by going to VisitDelavan.com.
