Agape House 5K run, walk, stroll set

Agape House, of Walworth, is hosting its annual 5K Run Walk Stroll during National Child Abuse Prevention month.

Individuals, families, and groups of all sizes are encouraged to participate on Saturday, April 24 for this fun, non-competitive outing, according to a news release.

The event is being held both in-person and virtually.

Early bird registration is due by April 8, for only $20 per adult. After April 8, the cost will be $30 with no guarantee of a t-shirt.

The registration fee includes the walk, refreshments, and a commemorative t-shirt. Children under 16 can participate for free and can pre-purchase an adult size t-shirt for just $5 each.

The entry fee will be waived for individuals who raise $100 or more in support donations.

Registration for the morning 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m., the 5K event begins at 10 a.m., with refreshments available at registration. See www.agapehouseheals.org/events to register or call 262-275-6466.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three individuals or groups who raise the most financial support.

The event course begins and ends at the Agape House school parking lot: 215 S. Main, Walworth, Wis. The 5K route along village streets provides ease of use for running, walking, strollers, and wheelchairs. “Agape House is honored to partner with these distinguished businesses and a host of anonymous friends and supporters who help to make this event possible,” a news release states.

Agape House is the only private residential home and school for teens in the state of Wisconsin. The non-profit organization offers hope and healing to abused or distressed girls ages 12 through 18, and boys ages 12 through 16.

Programs include Christian counseling services, mentoring, individualized educational courses, and a safe environment where the teens can heal. Counseling is also available for family members wishing to break unhealthy generational cycles.
