The Delavan Common Council approved a memorandum of understanding with Baxter and Woodman recently for engineering services related to proposed 2021 street improvement projects in the city.

The council approved $31,000 for engineering design work and another $12,200 for construction engineering at the Jan. 19 meeting.

The list of proposed 2021 street improvement projects includes resurfacing West Geneva Street from Beloit Road to Spring Lane and the repaving of Susie Street and Boyle Circle. The Susie Street and Boyle Circle project includes water service improvements.

City to donate air tank to Williams Bay

The council approved declaring four fire department SCBA air tanks surplus material because they are no longer of use. One of the tanks will be donated to Williams Bay to be used for COVID-19 disinfecting procedures.

Administrator Denise Pieroni said Williams Bay recently donated a cot to the city, so this would be a nice reciprocal action.

Purchase of wheel loader approved

The council approved the purchase of a 2021 Volvo L60 wheel loader with a Burke plow and wing at a cost of $171,515. It will replace a 1989 version that was declared surplus property.

Alderman Carrie Deschner-Brandt said the recommended bid was not the lowest bid, however city staff felt the wheel loader offered by Aring Equipment was a better option.

Since the wheel loader is likely to be used for a long period of time as the 1989 version has been, staff recommended going with the better product. Brooks Tractor offered a John Deere wheel loader at a cost of $148,025.

February meeting moved

Due to the Feb. 16 primary election falling on the Tuesday the council usually meets, the council approved meeting on Feb. 23 instead next month.
