The leaves are changing, cooler weather has rolled in, and numerous volunteers, contractors and local businesses have been working with Habitat for Humanity in Walworth County to create a home for a local family.
Progress has continued as the Habitat home located at W850 Myrtle Road in Bloomfield. The project first started as a slab of concrete in July of 2020 and has since transformed into a charming ranch home in just a handful of months.
That amount of progress is thanks to the help of numerous local organizations including the Lake Geneva Jaycees, Lake Geneva Police Department, Rotary volunteers and many others who have dedicated their time, resources, and expertise to continue the progress on the home.
The Wald family, who will be able to move into the home in the coming months, has been working alongside Habitat in Walworth County throughout the entire process.
“The crews [who have helped] have been amazing! From the police department, the neighbors, local churches, to WE Energies… that is what has made this home special, it’s the help of people from everywhere across the county,” said future Habitat homeowner, Sarah Wald.
“I am excited to be able to call this my home, and remember the dozens of people who helped us build it,” she added.
As the build progresses into the final months, Habitat in Walworth County is seeking volunteers to help on Saturdays. Saturdays are dedicated volunteer workdays where the typical workday is usually from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., though whatever time volunteers can contribute is welcome and appreciated.
Tasks the organization is looking to have complete in the coming workdays include installing flooring, assisting with landscaping, installing doors and trim, as well as helping to install appliances.
