The Walworth Children’s Foundation recently received a generous donation of $5,000 from USG to help families and children who live in Walworth.

The Foundation was formally started in 2011 under the late Pam Knorr, district school administrator at the time. It has served the Walworth Grade School families in many needs including emotional support, clothing, school supplies, food, medicine, also defraying the cost of camps and school field trips.

COVID-19 has only made the need much greater with families out of work or having problems with rent.

According to Jennifer Ott, school counselor, approximately 100 children are provided with some level of help each year from the organization.

USG in Walworth is one of 50 USG plants and the proceeds are awarded from the USG Foundation. Past USD financial awards locally were to the homeless shelter and the food pantry.

Employees of the local plants are welcomed to provide suggestions for awards and the group was very thrilled with this award while also having pride in taking care of each other.

According to Linda Freeman, the foundation is a legacy to the late Pam Knorr.

The Walworth Children’s Foundation is an incorporated, non-profit 501 (c)(3) entity designed to assist needy children attending Walworth Jt. District #1 School.

The purpose of this Foundation is to acquire and distribute resources that support children and families in financial need. This fund receives donations from the community to aid children enrolled at Walworth School and their families.

Those in need of assistance are asked to contact Mrs. Ott-Wilson.

Donations can be sent to: Walworth Children’s Foundation, PO Box 285, Walworth, WI 53184.
