Rotary Club recognizes DDHS students

Delavan-Darien High School students Breanna Yartey – daughter of Renee Yartey and Kofi Yartey – and Michael Cobb – son of Tammy Cobb and James Cobb – were selected as the Delavan Rotary Club students for the month of September.

Yartey participates in girls swim (as captain), student council, track, string choir, Lydian choir, musicals, and is a Comet Mentor. She is a member of the National Honor Society.

She volunteers at her church helping with fundraisers and the Christmas program. She also volunteers with the Delavan-Darien Athletic Booster Club fair booth and she teaches swim lessons.

After high school Yartey is undecided on which college she is attending. She plans to major in Chemistry and attend medical school to be an Obstetrician-Gynecologist.

Cobb participates in tennis, game club, string choir, marching band, jazz ensemble, orchestra and strings ensemble. He is a member of the National Honor Society.

He volunteers with LibriVox Audio Books and has volunteered with the DAYS (Delavan Area Youth Service) foundation.

After high school Cobb plans to pursue a degree in Computer Science, with a minor in Music. In his spare time, he will be developing small games to gain experience in his chosen field of game design.

As recipients of this award, these students were escorted by a DDHS administrator to the Rotary Club luncheon at the Delavan Lake Store on Sept. 30.

“Congratulations to Breanna and Michael on receiving this prestigious award,” district officials stated in a press release.

Annually, the Delavan Darien Rotary Club awards two$1,000 scholarships to Delavan-Darien High School students, sponsors a DDHS student attending Rotary’s World Affairs Summit and volunteers at the high school’s reality fair.
