Highway 50 bridge repairs to begin Monday

Road closure will lead to detour via Highway 67 and I-43

Following the previous date being pushed back shortly before construction was set to begin, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to close Highway 50 in the inlet to complete bridge deck repairs beginning Monday, July 6.

Work on the bridge – on Jackson Creek in the Delavan inlet between Reed’s Marine and One Powersports – originally was set to begin in early June. But less than a week from that date, it was announced the project had been delayed.

The construction project, which will begin July 6, is expected to take about three weeks to complete, will cause a complete closure of Highway 50, with a detour directing traffic to use Interstate 43 and Highway 67. Signs will be located along the north- and southbound lanes of I-43 to alert motorists of the bridge closure.

The project will include the bridge deck being repaired and overlaid along with the bridge approach pavement being overlaid.

It’s important to note that if the start date for the Highway 50 bridge project changes, this notice in the newspaper may be inaccurate due to press deadline.

As always, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation asks motorists to use caution when driving through work zones.
