prevailed, garnering 3,724 of the 9,073 votes cast.

Lake Geneva banker Bob Kordus came in a close second with 3,209 votes, and accounts receivable manager Toni Loftus trailed with 2,110 votes.

Pruess, 55, of Elkhorn has been working for the county for more than three decades.

If elected, she pledged to provide impeccable customer service, keep up with rapidly changing technology and to continue cross-training staff.

In November, Pruess will face off with Democratic candidate Sue Finster, her colleague at the county’s register of deeds office.

Whoever is elected will succeed Connie Woolever, who announced she would retire, after 14 years heading up the office.

According to County Clerk Kim Bushey, 13,904 ballots were cast in Walworth County, with 313 outstanding absentee ballots remain untallied.

Deadline for receiving those ballots is 4 p.m. Friday.
