Highway 50 bridge work delayed

Less than a week prior to start, project gets pushed

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation was set to begin working on a concrete bridge deck overlay on Jackson Creek on Highway 50 in the Delavan inlet near the boat launch Monday, June 8. But on Tuesday afternoon, the project was pushed until after July 4 though a new start date has not been announced.

The bridge work, which is expected to take about three weeks to complete, will cause a complete closure of Highway 50, with a detour leading traffic to use Interstate 43 and Highway 67 to get around the area.

When a new date has officially been decided, an update will be posted on the website and in the Delavan Enterprise newspaper.

Other areas under construction currently in the area include Interstate 43 in Walworth County from Elkhorn to the Rock County line, a project along Highway 11 between Highway 14 and Turtle Creek Drive in the Delavan-Darien area, and the on and off ramps to and from northbound Interstate 43 at County Road X in Delavan.

As always, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation asks that motorists use caution when driving through work zones.
