The show kicks off at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with the Upham Greenhouse, Barnett Theatre and Perkins Stadium all featured.

Co-host Mariah Haberman attends a Warhawks football game and interviews players after their win against UW-La Crosse.

“Whitewater totally surprised me; this is a city I thought I knew well,” Haberman said in a news release. “But to get here and re-discover this destination with a completely new lens brought forth a whole new, fascinating city to me.

“I can’t wait for the rest of the Midwest to fall in love with this area as our crew has,” Haberman added. “We are thrilled to designate Whitewater an official 2020 Discover Wisconsin Choice Destination.”

The sights and trails of Whitewater also are highlighted: Haberman gets an aerial view of the Whitewater area with Wisconsin Hang Gliding.

For a great view of the area from the ground, Whitewater and Rice lakes are highlighted as well as the John Muir biking trails. Dave Saalsaa of Quiet Hut Sports also is interviewed in the program.

The second half of the episode begins with a culinary tour of Whitewater.

Co-host Eric Paulsen stops in at The Black Sheep and The Fuzzy Pig. He follows up with a trip to Second Salem Brewing Co. for some taste testing and to uncover Whitewater’s folklore.

Paulsen attends the annual two-night Spirit Tour, hosted by the Whitewater Chamber of Commerce and Wisconsin Historical Society every October.

“The Whitewater Tourism Council is excited to be a part of celebrating a few of our favorite things in Whitewater,” said Kathleen Fleming, administrator for Discover Whitewater offices. “We are excited and honored to be chosen as a Choice Destination and appreciate all the work the ‘Discover Wisconsin’ team put into highlighting some of the wonderful groups, activities and history that Whitewater offers.”

Whitewater also is featured in episode 7 of Discover Wisconsin’s official podcast, The Cabin. The episode, called “Made in Wisconsin,” premieres Tuesday, March 17, and is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and various other podcast streaming apps.

The local “Discover Wisconsin” episode will reach the show’s broadcast network of 600,000 viewers across the upper Great Lakes region, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Illinois, and Upper Michigan.
