Santa Cause’s Christmas Tree Festival teams up with charities

The 4th Annual Charities of Christmas Tree Festival, held at Gage Marine’s Winter Harbor in Williams Bay, wrapped up Jan. 4 and was once again an overwhelming success, according to organizers.

Nancy Waspi, coordinator of the event, said the exact amount of money raised is still being tallied but the hopes are that it will reach the same amount as last year, if not more. In 2018, it resulted in $110,000 raised, which benefitted the charity partners.

The eight charity partners for Santa Cause are: Agape House; Norman B. Barr Camp; Big Brothers and Big Sisters of south central Wisconsin; Circle of Friends; Tree House; Water Safety Patrol; Dan Green’s Touch a Life, Heal a Heart, and; Boys & Girls Club of Walworth County.

How the tree festival works is this: volunteers from each of those eight organizations constructed an area centered that included a decorated tree with each choosing their own theme to feature. Each display area also featured a variety of prizes, which were donated by people, businesses and so on in support of the organization.

Guests purchased tickets and then placed them in bins near the prizes they were interested in trying to win.

Now that the event has wrapped up, the charities are in the process of notifying the winners. After all have been notified a list of the winners and their prizes will be posted on the Santa Cause website.

Waspi, prior to the event, offered the following sentiment:

“May we all take the opportunity today to be a beacon of light, love and joy to everyone our giving hearts touch through this magical season,” she said.
