New option available in county for adult care

Walworth County has a new option for adult care that helps bridge the gap between homecare and assisted living. All Day Adult Care opened inside Vintage on the Ponds assisted living facility just outside of Delavan in the fall of 2018 and became fully operational last summer.

Owner and manager John Jacobson was working as a physical therapist at Vintage on the Ponds when the owners approached him with the idea of opening an adult day care business in the lower level of the assisted living facility. Jacobson said his business is separate from Vintage on the Ponds and he rents the space it occupies. But the two businesses do complement each other well, he said.

Jacobson said Vintage on the Ponds caters the lunches provided to All Day Adult Care while some of the services provided to residents of the assisted living facility, such as physical therapy, are also available to the adult day care facility. All Day also benefits from being on the grounds of one of, if not the largest assisted living facility in the county. It, in turn, benefits Vintage on the Ponds by providing an alternative to full-time assisted living.

That may seem counterproductive, but Jacobson said his business provides what often becomes a transition option for families not ready to place loved ones in assisted living full-time…
