Learn to play Dungeons and Dragons

Celebrate Dungeons and Dragons at Horticultural Hall in Lake Geneva in February and learn how to play at the Lake Geneva and Elkhorn libraries.

Dungeons and Dragons, the role-playing game, is enjoying a resurgence in popularity. Many local libraries have very active D&D groups that meet monthly.

Learn how to create D&D characters at the Matheson Memorial Library, 101 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, and at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Lake Geneva Public Library, 918 W. Main St.

The main celebration will take place at the historic Horticultural Hall in downtown Lake Geneva, where the first GenCon was held, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22. The event is also sponsored by Horticultural Hall, Lake Geneva Games and Gino’s East of Lake Geneva.

The event at Horticultural Hall will feature several open games running for participants to jump into and begin defeating monsters and finding treasure. Experienced Dungeon Masters will be on hand to teach while leading games, and refreshments will be available. A featured game with realistic terrain and miniature figures will also be available.

Registration is required to play, but everyone is welcome to stop in and watch games in progress. Contact the Lake Geneva Public Library at 262-249-5299 or the Matheson Memorial Library at 262-723-2678, after Jan. 6, to sign up for a spot at a game table.
