Elk gymnasts ‘rocking their floor routines’

Elizabeth Lockhart won two events and helped the Elks beat Milton/Edgerton 136.425-131.825 Dec.17 in a non-conference girls gymnastics meet at Elkhorn Area High School.

“We had a few mishaps on vault and bars,” Elks coach Amanda Merlo said of the meet against Milton. “We are working on our consistency on beam as well as our confidence. The girls are rocking their floor routines right now.”

The Elks finished in the top three spots in the floor exercise.

Lockhart won the event with a score of 9.4 Rebecca Wheeler finished second (9.125) and Lyndsay Ryan came in third (9.075).

Lockhart also finished first on the uneven bars (8.8) Ryan finished third (8.35) and Wheeler fourth (8.25).

Milton’s Brooke Girard won on balance beam with a score of 9.15 and also finished first in the vault (9.0).

Wheeler finished second in the vault (8.5). Milton finished in four of the top five spots.

Ryan finished second on beam (8.95). Lockhart finished third (8.55) and Brianna Taylor fourth (8.375).

Wheeler came in second in the vault (8.5).

Girard won the all-around with a score of 35.2. Lockhart came in second (34.85). Ryan finished third (34.375) and Wheeler fourth (34.075). Marlie Lockhart finished sixth (32.375).

The Elks’ next meet is Jan. 7 at home. The squad will celebrate Parents Night.
