Local board seats on spring ballot

Area residents have the opportunity to serve on the school and village boards with the upcoming spring election. Interested candidates can obtain nomination papers from the village and school district, which are due by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020.

Board members selecting not to run for re-election need to file declarations of non-candidacy by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27.

If more than two candidates file to seek any single seat – or more than double the available at-large seats – a primary election will be held Feb. 19, 2020, to narrow the field.

The spring general election will be April 7, 2020.

Local board seats up for election next year include:

Village of East Troy

Three trustee seats on the East Troy Village Board are on the spring ballot. The terms being served by Matt Johnson, Alan Boyes and Fortune “Forty” Renucci expire in April.

The Village of East Troy is governed by the Village Board of seven elected members with two-year terms with staggered expiration dates. The board meets first and third Mondays of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Room at Village Hall, 2015 Energy Drive.

The two-year terms pay $5,500 annually.

The village’s municipal judge seat is also on the April ballot. Judge Michael Cotter is the incumbent. The municipal judge term is four years.

School Board

The East Troy Community School District has one open seat on the School Board for the April 7, election. School Board Clerk Stephen Lambrechts is the incumbent.

The School Board has five members serving staggered three-year terms. The position pays $2,500 annually.

Applications are available at the District Office, 2040 Beulah Ave., East Troy, WI 53120 or call 262-642-6710 ext. 1221 to have an application mailed.

Applications are due in the District Office by 5 p.m. on Jan. 7, 2020.
