The new Delavan-Darien boys’ basketball coach Todd Pyszora is looking to build the House of Comet Basketball brick by brick. He said it will take patience, but he has faith in the process and feels the players – and community – are buying in.

“I’m very happy with our team,” Pyszora said.

He outlined the four cornerstones his program will feature: community, character, commitment, and communication. He said they will work hard, give everything they have, dive for loose balls and out-work the opposing teams. He hopes his team is one of the most physical in the Southern Lakes Conference.

Pyszora spent the last three years coaching at West Bend West. He said he wasn’t looking to leave West Bend West, but the charter school he worked at closed due to budgetary issues. Forced to look for a new job, he said he initially looked for one that would allow him to remain the head coach at West Bend West, but then the Delavan-Darien position opened and he saw an opportunity.

“I enjoy building programs,” he said.

Pyszora said he has always wanted to coach at a small school and D-DHS will give him the opportunity to work and coach at the same school for the first time. Pyszora is a special education paraprofessional at the high school.
