Lakeland Players’ holiday musical opens Dec. 13

The Lakeland Players have been busy rehearsing for their holiday musical, “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” which will be onstage at the Sprague Theater, 15 W. Walworth St., Elkhorn, Dec. 13-15 and 20-22.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays.

In the musical, Charlie Brown complains about the overwhelming materialism he sees among everyone during the Christmas season, Lucy suggests that he become director of the school pageant. Charlie Brown accepts, but this proves to be a frustrating endeavor, when an attempt to restore the proper holiday spirit with a forlorn little fir tree fails, he needs Linus’ help to restore the real meaning of Christmas.

The musical is directed by David Whitney with Janet Palmer as musical director, and her daughter, Josie Palmer, as choreographer.

Guests will enjoy Gene Dahlbergs’ handy work as set designer and colorful costumes by Leigh Olson, Mary Ellen Hartley and Sue Bell.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Elkhorn Chamber Of Commerce, online at www.lakeland-players.org or reserved at the door by calling 262-723-4848.
