Dorinda Mae Middleton found peace and went home to the Lord Nov. 16, 2019 at the age of 89 having lived a long and fulfilled life in and around the area of East Troy. She was born April 16, 1930, to the late Frederick Charles and Geraldine Mae (Cole) Cronk.
She married the late James Herman Middleton in June of 1949 upon his return from military service in the U.S. Navy.
Upon retirement, Dorinda began quilting which grew to become her passion; she was one of the founders of the Crazy Quilters Guild. Her hand appliqué and hand quilting works were exquisite, and she won numerous awards at County, State and National quilt shows. She also loved to teach her techniques to others, especially her grandchildren.
Dorinda was the loving mother of eight children, Bonnie Ellen (Daniel) Luba, Ronald James (Linda), Susan Jane, Daniel Gene (Terry), Kathy Jo, David Wayne (Pam), Juli Ann (David) Markham and Tina Kay. She was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren, cherished great-grandmother of 15 great-grandchildren, and treasured great-great-grandmother of two.
She was further preceded in death by her sisters, Shirley Ann (Bob) Bower, Marilyn Jean Cronk; and daughters, Bonnie Ellen Luba, Tina Kay.
The family would like to thank the RidgeStone Terrace staff for their exceptional care for Dorinda over the past year and half. The RidgeStone is more than an assisted living facility; it is a home and extended caring family. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care for their mother in her final weeks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Brooklife Church, 857 S. Rochester St., Mukwonago, with burial following in the Rochester Cemetery, 31440 Washington Ave. (Highway D), Rochester.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral and Cremation Services of Mukwonago is assisting the family.
Our deepest condolences for the loss of Aunt Dorinda. She had an influence on me in my young life and I will always think of her fondly.
