Tennis team qualifies for state

Badger girls tennis team qualified for WIAA State Team Tennis Championships at the WIAA sectional meet last week and advanced to the state tournament for the second consecutive season. The Badgers scored 47 team points compared to 32 for the second place team. Individual sectional champions include Zaya Iderzul, Sydney Miller, Anabelle Alberts, Sophia Strasser and Maya Lyng.

The individual state tournament will be Oct. 17 to 19. The team tournament will be October 25 and 26. Both tournaments will be at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Soccer competes at SLC tournament

The Badger High School boys soccer team lost to Elkhorn, 6-0, Oct. 8 in the opening round of the Southern Lakes Conference Tournament. The Elks clinched the program’s third consecutive SLC title for the third year in a row.

Volleyball fall to Elkhorn

The Badger girls volleyball team lost to Elkhorn in four sets Oct. 8 in a Southern Lakes Conference match at Elkhorn Area High School.

The Badgers lost the first set 25-17 and the second 25-16 before winning the third 25-15. Elkhorn won the fourth set 25-12.

Murphy qualifies for state

Badger senior Holly Murphy won the WIAA golf sectional on last week at The Legend at Bristlecone. This will be Murphy’s third consecutive trip to the WIAA State Golf Championships. As a sophomore, Murphy finished in eighth place overall and last year, she finished 10th.
