Heading into the final week of play before the Southern Lakes Conference tournament, the Delavan-Darien High School boys soccer team held a 12-3-1 record.

The Comets kicked off their play last week with a dominating, 7-0 win at Badger Oct. 1.

Jonathan Diaz recorded three goals in the game by way of a hat trick – three goals in a row – in the second half.

On Friday, Oct. 4, the Comets traveled again to face Waterford. Delavan-Darien’s Estevan Colin scored the only goal of the game, which came in the first half.

With the win against Waterford, which competes in Division 2, the Comets (Division 3) improved to 14-3-1 overall.

One day later, Delavan-Darien was at home against Pius XI Catholic and won 9-3. Pius led 3-2 going into halftime, but the Comets went outscored Pius in the second half 7-0. Colin scored six times in the game to lead all scorers.

Prior to the start of the conference tournament, the Comets own a 15-3-1 record. The tournament was scheduled to begin on Tuesday against Union Grove.

The Comets were scheduled to face Menomonee Falls on the road Thursday and conclude their regular season with a 6:30 p.m. game against Beloit Memorial on Thursday, Oct. 17 at home.

If Delavan-Darien defeats Union Grove in the first round of the conference tournament, it will face the winner of Elkhorn-Badger on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The time and location of that game are to be determined.
