The Comets entered their senior night matchup against Milton Sept. 17 with a 9-0-1 record and improved to 10-0-1 thanks to a shutout victory.

“We’ve got 14 seniors and they all played in the first half,” said Comets head coach Mike Marse. “That’s a good game for us. We got lots of playing time for lots of people.”

Ivan Calixto-Perez scored the first three goals in the 10-0 win – all in the first half – and ended the game with four total. Estevan Colin added two more, while four other players scored as well.

Two days later, the Comets hosted Union Grove, a team in which Marse said prior to the game that he knew would pose as a challenge for his team. By halftime, Delavan-Darien led 1-0, but five goals were scored in the second half.

The Comets scored twice – leading 2-0 at one point – but allowed three for the game to end in a 3-3 tie. Delavan-Darien is still unbeaten on the season, 10-0-2.

“We started having guys dropping out with leg cramps and at one time I think we had five or six guys either having leg cramps or a bloody nose, so, they took it to us for a while,” Marse said.
