Whippets rebound to win final 3 matches of invite

It was a great weekend for the Whitewater volleyball team. The Whippets won the Oshkosh Lourdes Invitational silver bracket, which boosted their confidence.

After losing matches against Manitowoc Lutheran and Fall River, the Whippets beat Pulaski, Menasha and Columbus.

The first match versus Lutheran was close as the Whippets lost 25-22). In the second game, the Lancers pulled away for a 25-11 win.

Whitewater battled with Fall River in taking the match to three sets. The Pirates beat the Whippets 25-23. Whitewater tied things in the second game with a 25-17 decision, but it lost the third and deciding set 25-19.

The Whippets swept the next three opponents to break out of their slump. They beat Pulaski 25-20 and 25-22. Menasha kept their two matches close against Whitewater, but the Blue Jays went down in a 25-23, 25-22 defeat. Columbus made Whitewater work overtime in the first game as the Whippets sweated out a 27-25 victory. They beat the Red Raiders 25-21 in the second set.

Amanda Tovar and Emme Bullis shared the team lead in aces with six for the tournament. Bullis racked up 54 kills and Kacie Carollo added 29. Cora Linos chipped in 81 assists.
