Whitewater CDA to temporarily relocate meetings to city hall

A quasi-independent Whitewater economic development panel will hold its meetings at city hall on an interim basis to accommodate live transmissions of proceedings.

The decision, made at the CDA board of directors regular meeting Aug. 15, comes after months of discussion about the philosophy of keeping CDA operations independent of regular business within city hall.

Whitewater Common Council member James Allen, who sits on the CDA board, voted against the plan in motion, citing concerns with the perception it has within the development community.

CDA meetings have a long history of being held outside the walls of city hall, most recently at the Innovation Center.

“We don’t want the perception of this to be a city body,” Allen said. “If we come to city hall, we lose all that.”

Speaking to conversations he has had with developers, Allen said he has heard concerns about confidentiality if meetings are held at city hall….
