Cool locations open at UW-Whitewater during heat wave

With temperatures soaring into the 90s this week, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campuses are offering cooling locations to the community.

Whitewater and Rock County campuses offer respite from the high temperatures

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Walworth and Rock counties for Thursday and Friday, with temperatures in the 90s and heat index values in the 100s.

Community members are invited to escape the heat in the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s air-conditioned buildings. These locations are open to the public during the following summer hours:

Whitewater campus

  • James R. Connor University Center – Thursday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Andersen Library – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Williams Center – Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Rock County campus

Thursday and Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
