On the heels of a recent high-level departure, Whitewater officials are in the midst of seeking candidates to head up economic development activities within the city.

City Manager Cameron Clapper met with the board of directors of the Whitewater Community Development Authority on June 27 and discussed recruitment for the economic development director.

Clapper is serving as the lead point person for economic development on an interim basis, following the departure this past month of former director Dave Carlson.

“If you haven’t noticed already, I’m not an economic development expert, and our economic development director, or CDA director, is no longer with us,” Clapper said as he laid out the rationale behind the imminent recruitment process.
