Area nonprofits receive Alliant Energy grants

Nine area nonprofit organizations have been awarded community grants totaling more than $36,000 from the Alliant Energy Foundation.

“We’re looking for creative solutions that support our customers and communities,” said Julie Bauer, executive director of the Alliant Energy Foundation. “Our nonprofit partners are constantly working to make life better. Community Grants are one way we stand behind them as they solve problems for families, education and the environment.”

These grants are among 145 the Alliant Energy Foundation awarded during this semi-annual grant cycle, totaling more than $408,000, and include:

  • Healthy Choices-Healthy Families food program, Walworth County Food Pantry Inc., Elkhorn, $2,000;
  • STEM education mentoring program, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Wisconsin, Delavan, $2,500;
  • Lake Geneva Bird City Initiative bird watching kits, City of Lake Geneva, $1,572;
  • 2019 program support, Junior Achievement of Wisconsin, statewide, $20,500;
  • Rent assistance, Everyone Cooperating to Help Others, Janesville, $3,000;
  • YWCA AVP Invisible Weapon Project, Young Women’s Christian Association YWCA of Rock County, Janesville, $2,000;
  • Welty and Stateline Boys and Girls Club camp partnership, Friends of Welty Environmental Center, Beloit, $1,767;
  • Nutritious food for seniors with limited mobility, Caritas Inc., Beloit, $1,510; and
  • Leadership Development Academy of Rock County, Janesville, $1,500.
