Top five finish for Elks at third SLC Major

Nolan Shirk tied for eighth with a 79 and the Elkhorn Area High School boys golf team came in fifth April 23 in the third Southern Lakes Conference Major of the season, which took place at Delbrook Golf Course in Delavan.

The Elks finished seventh April 22 in the Geneva National Invite at Geneva National Golf Course in Lake Geneva.

Shirk’s round of 79 at Delbrook included nines of 41 and 38.

Nick Keller finished 11th with a score of 81. Quentin ‘Q’ Woyak finished with an 85. Nolan Ahler shot 91 and Hunter Krauklis finished at 97.

The Elks finished with a team score of 336. Badger won the major (300).

Union Grove finished second (308), Waterford third (325) and Westosha fourth (334). Wilmot came in sixth (357) and Burlington seventh (396).

Waterford’s Josh Koszarek won individual medalist honors (68).

Keller finished 15th with a score 82 at Geneva National.

Shirk shot an 84. Woyak finished at 88, Ahler at 92 and Krauklis carded a 101.

The Elks finished with a team score of 346. Waunakee won the team title (310).

Among SLC schools Badger finished third (320), Waterford eighth (351), Wilmot 11th (377) and Burlington 18th (462).

Waunakee’s Joe Guerrera won individual medalist honors (71).

Elkhorn was scheduled to play Tuesday at Browns Lake Golf Course in Burlington in the final SLC Major of the season. The Elks play Friday in an invitational at Krueger Haskell Golf Course in Beloit.
