LOVEINA E. ‘DYNE’ MCREYNOLDS

Loveina E. “Dyne” McReynolds, 92, of Walworth died Jan. 7, 2013 at the Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn,

She was born May 24, 1920 in Platteville to the late Frank and Edna (Manuel) Goss. Here she was raised and attended school, graduating from Platteville High School. She received her teaching degree from Wisconsin State Teacher’s College, now the University of Wisconsin- Platteville. She was united in marriage to Dale C. McReynolds on June 8, 1943 in Kahoka, Mo.

She began her teaching career in LaFarge and Dodgeville. The couple then moved to Walworth in 1947 where Dyne first worked for Spruce Realty before beginning her teaching career in 1954. She taught third grade for the Walworth Grade School for 27 years. She retired in 1981 after teaching elementary school for more than 30 years.

She is survived by her son, Tom (Jeanie) of Fontana; cherished grandson, Tom (Christina) of Walworth; sisters-in-law, Geneva (Harold) Beals and Esther, both of Platteville and many nieces and nephews. She was further preceded in death by her husband, Dale “Mac;” brothers, Richard and Frank and sister, Freda.

She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver. She always looked forward to watching sports on TV, especially baseball. She enjoyed knitting and craftwork. In earlier years she loved gardening, decorating and entertaining at her house in the country. She loved teaching and enjoyed hearing about her past students and their accomplishments. She looked forward to the spring trips south with Mac at the beginning of baseball season. She loved all animals, especially her many cats and dogs. She looked forward to visits from her “Grand dog,” Charlie, at Golden Years. She greeted everyone with a big smile and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her, especially her family. She will be remembered for her big heart and her kindness and caring for others.

Services for Loveina E. McReynolds will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 17 at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Walworth with the Rev. Steven Buchanan officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Toynton Funeral Home in Walworth. Interment will be at the Walworth Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Immanuel United Church of Christ of Walworth or the Lakeland Animal Shelter of Elkhorn.

  1. Aunt Dyne was a great force in my life and will missed beyond words. I have such fond memories of her and Uncle Mac that will be with me all of my life. They were wonderful people and it was a blessing to have known them.
