Badger soccer takes second at invite

The Lake Geneva Badger soccer team took second at the Badger Invitational on April 12 and 13. The Badgers won two out of three games and finished second to 3-0 Waukesha South.

The Badgers (5-2) fell to South in the first gamer of the invitational 4-1. South scored three goals in the first half, all by Katie Valentine. Claire Kiefer had one assist. Brittany Gestrich scored Badger’s lone goal on an assist by Kristen Guyon. Valentine scored her fourth goal to close out the scoring. South outshot the Badgers 22-8 and 16-7 on goal.

The Badgers defeated Greenfield (0-3-2) 3-0. Gestrich scored one goal and assisted on the other two. Paige Aspinall and Greta Fleer scored those goals. Badger outshot Greenfield 18-2 overall and 14-1 on goal.

The Badgers beat Whitewater (2-5-1) 4-1. Zoe Walker (assist by Gestrich), Lucy Reed (Madison Roen), Walker, and Gestrich (Fleer) put the Badgers up 4-0 in the first half. Whitewater’s Sierra Brunner scored the lone Whippet goal in the second half. Badger outshot the Whippets 16-4 overall and 8-2 on goal.

The Badgers also beat Beloit Memorial/Turner (2-2) 4-0 on Apr. 8. Guyon (Getsrich), Gestrich, Reese Mikrut, and Reed (Walker) gave the Badgers a 4-0 halftime lead. Badger outshot Memorial/Turner 24-4 overall and 13-2 on goal.
