Macy Rocha finished 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI and helped the Elkhorn Area High School softball team to a 7-0 Southern Lakes Conference victory over Delavan-Darien April 9 at Elkhorn.

The Elks beat Burlington Catholic Central 17-6 April 8 at Burlington.

Against Delavan-Darien pitcher Izzy Regner allowed two hits and struck out 13.

“There’s not much more you can ask for from a pitching aspect,’ Elks coach Steve Remington said. “Our pitching has been dominating so far this season. Izzy and Christina (Crawford) have been fantastic in the circle.”

Elkhorn (4-2, 2-1 SLC) scored four runs in the first and another three in the second against the Comets (1-4, 0-2 SLC).

Haley Remington went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI against Delavan-Darien.

In the game against Catholic Central (2-4) freshman Kenzie Calvillo hit a home run in the first pitch she faced in varsity competition. Calvillo also doubled and finished with two RBI.

“We came out hot with our bats and pretty much stayed that way throughout the game,” Steve Remington said. “This game was a test for our young ones, and they performed well.

“We still have our moments here and there that show our youth, but it seems to be going in the right direction,” he added.

Ariana Schliepp finished 3-for-3 with two RBI and Crawford homered and went 2-for-2. Haley Remington tripled twice.

Crawford threw 4 2/3 innings, allowing just two hits while striking out seven, and Afton Malvitz threw 1 1/3 inning.
