The Delavan Taco Bell will be torn down and rebuilt over the next few months with a re-opening set for July. The Common Council approved an amended conditional use permit for the site that will allow a new building that will occupy the same footprint as the current building but slightly larger.

The current building will be demolished and replaced with a 2,147 square-foot structure that will be 25 percent larger than the current building. No changes will be made to the parking lot or entrances to the property. One change was requested by the city to the restaurant’s drive-through lane. The lane will be made wider near the order board.

The new store will employ 25 people, seat 40 customers, and serve an estimated 400-450 customers per day. Seventy percent of that business is expected to be through the drive-through lane.

The new building will incorporate a modern architectural style with fiber-cement siding and brick veneer. Two murals are planned with overhead lighting to illuminate them on the northern and southern facades.

Construction is expected to begin on Apr. 1 and be completed by July 22.
