Helen K. Degner

Helen K. Degner, 88, of East Troy, passed away peacefully in her bed at East Troy Manor on March 14, 2019. She was born Oct. 10, 1930, in the Town of Vernon.

She married Herbert A. Degner in 1949. They settled in East Troy to raise a family and established Degner Plumbing Company. Helen turned her love of ceramics into a business, Pour and Paint Ceramics, and later served as the hotel manager for Alpine Valley Resort.

After retirement Helen spent her spare time playing bingo and nickel slots at Potawatomi and Ho Chunk Casinos.

Helen is survived by sons, Herbert “Mike” (Sharon) Degner of East Troy, Jeffery “Bulldog” Degner of East Troy, Andrew “Huntzy” (Karen Norton) Degner of Damascus, Oregon; grandchildren, Anna (Aaron) Mertes of Elkhorn, George Degner Jr. of Mineral Point, Matthew (Ashley) Degner of Sandy, Oregon, Rebekah (Derick) of Salem, Oregon, and daughter-in-law, Virginia “Ginny” (Larry) Matelski of Elkhorn.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, George “Tire Biter” Degner.

At Helen’s request no funeral service will be held, a celebration of life will be held at a later date TBD. To honor Helen the family asks that you take time to help someone you know who is less fortunate and in need of assistance.
