Fundraiser to support area bandshell

If the name, Gimme Skynyrd doesn’t make it clear, many of the songs Lynyrd Skynyrd fans enjoy will be part of a fundraiser tonight to raise money for the Phoenix Park Bandshell in Delavan.

“They are not just a tribute band. It is six musicians dedicated to putting on a show that will remind you of a time when rock music spoke directly to your soul. You will hear all the Skynyrd songs you know (and a few album cuts), but get ready for some Marshall Tucker, Molly Hatchet, Allman Brothers, ZZ Top, Blackfoot and even some current artists that carry on the Southern Rock tradition,” a press release about the event states.

The fundraising concert, set for 7 p.m., Saturday, March 16, will be inside the Town of Delavan Community Park- Center. Seating is limited and tickets are $20 per person. Food and beverages will be available to purchase.

Tickets can be purchased from Beall Jewelers, Bradley’s Department Store, Remember When or online at api.time.ly/events/21754441/checkout.

The Friends of the Phoenix Park Bandshell put on free concerts in the park all summer long. Most evening shows begin at 7 p.m. and end at dark. Watch for the Bandshell’s 2019 season to be published on their website and Facebook page.

“Gimme Skynyrd is sure to put on a great performance… support the Phoenix Park Bandshell and have a fun evening out,” organizers of Saturday’s event said.
