Whitewater High School’s gymnastics team competed in a WIAA sectional on Feb. 22, finishing sixth with 122.6 points. Sauk Prairie, which finished fifth, accumulated 122.625 points.

The Whippets also did not qualify an individual for state, thus ending their 2018-19 season.

Trinity Nickels finished as Whitewater’s top athlete in the all-around competition with her 31.350. She placed 17th overall but was fourth among freshmen.

Whippets head coach Kelly O’Hara talked about her six seniors, who she said would be greatly missed.

  • Sydney Treder was on the gymnastics team for four years and a captain for three. “She was a consistent all-around gymnast.”
  • Autumn Lesar was a four-year performer and was a co-captain for the 2018-19 season. “She was a consistent all-around gymnast.”
  • Katherine Staniszewski was another four-year athlete who specialized on the floor exercise and balance beam.
  • Nicole Tomomitsu performed all four years and specialized on the floor exercise and uneven bars.
  • Maci Parrish was on the team for one year and was the team manager.
  • Sierra competed for three years and was a manager for the 2018-19 season.
