Delavan-Darien High School’s Stephen Rodriguez goes for the basket in Comets boys’ 58-46 loss to Westosha Central.

Central and just missed picking up its first Southern Lakes Conference win, losing 58-46.

“We need to develop some consistency on both ends of the court,” D-DHS head coach Bob Beighton said.  “This starts with the consistency in our practice effort.  Right now, we are not putting forth the kind of practice effort that

would enable us to win.”

“This is something we can and must correct to have success in the fourth quarter and avoid the lapses in games that have plagued us,” Beighton said.

It was a tie ball game in the first half, with both teams scoring 14 in the first quarter and 14 in the second quarter for the 28-28 halftime tie.

After falling behind by nine points in the third the Comets brought it to within one with two minutes left in the quarter, but the Falcons went ahead 44-38 to end the third.

In the fourth quarter the Comets were outscored 14-8 and lost, 58-46.

Isaac Ramos had 14 points to lead the Comets and his brother Isiah added 12.

John Damrow put in eight points and four rebounds and Jesse Collins added eight rebounds, three steals and two assists.

The Comets will travel to Burlington tonight for a 7 p.m. game.
