CAROL J. KASTEN

      Carol Joan Kasten, 86, of Delavan Lake died peacefully at her home of an apparent heart attack on Feb. 1, 2019.

Carol was born May 16, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Louis W. Kasten and Dorothy Frances Wilson.

Carol was a truly exceptional businesswoman, one of the first women to be allowed to be sole owner and operator of a commercial tavern. She successfully ran Pirates Cove from 1975 to 1998 at which time she turned it over to her son Brent. Carol was a longtime member of St. Andrews Catholic Church and a member of the Walworth County Tavern League. She loved playing golf and was quite adept at the sport. She also enjoyed snowmobiling and jet skiing.

She is survived by four sons, Robert A. (Char) Kendall of Lodi, Brent (Kimi) Kendall of Delavan, Richard (Edilma) Kendall of Delavan and James Wehrwein of Delavan; one sister, Beverly Kasten of Lake Geneva; one brother, Warren Kasten of Lake Geneva; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A daughter, Cindy recently predeceased her.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday at St. Andrews Catholic Church with the Rev. Oriol Regales officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Betzer Funeral Home is serving the family. A reception after the burial will be held at the Pirates Cove, Delavan Lake.
